Welcome to the Garfield County Assessor's Office

The primary duty of the assessor's office is to identify and determine the value of all taxable real and personal property, for the purpose of equitable distribution of tax liabilities of each property owner within their tax district.

The Assessor is required by law to value property at 100% of market value and to assure that all values are equitable, fair and uniform to all property owners in Garfield County. Properties in Garfield County are revalued every year with a physical inspection every 6 years.

County Appraiser Inspections to Begin in Fall 2021

Beginning in Fall 2022 a county appraiser will be working around the City of Pomeroy & County in the following areas:

A Garfield County Assessor's office appraiser will be actively working physical inspections in the City area of Wilson's, Steven's & Darby's Addition. County inspections are scheduled for areas with township and ranges as follows: 12-40; 13-40; 12-41 & 13-41.

Tereasa Summers, Treasurer Treasurer's Office   County Treasurer's primary responsibilities include:
  • Collecting real and personal property taxes (including performing foreclosures on real property and distraints of personal property), special assessments, excise tax, and miscellaneous receipts from other county districts and departments and collection of all delinquent accounts.
  • Accounting for all funds and deposits of revenues for the state, county, city and junior taxing districts (school, port, fire, public health and hospital).
